With love and gratitude

It was a good last week of school.  Lots of activities to keep kids engaged while they wrapped up their remaining units of study and days for the year.

Pioneers wearing their shades - cool!
Fourth grade Pioneer Fair, picnics, fifth grade graduation, and the first ever fifth grade Powder Ruff flag football tourney - girls as players and boys as cheerleaders.  Tons of fun!

Running through the gauntlet pre-game
Cheering the players on!

We also wrapped up the last several days with a few activities around all things goodbye.  Many of us, me included, are moving on from Highland Park and AISD.  Closing out one part of our journey and taking those next steps in life.  I don't think it has all quite hit me yet, but I have no doubt it will.

Lizanne, Markeshia, and me at a goodbye luncheon one day

I've been at Highland Park as the proud principal for 8 years.  Eight good, productive, creative, engaging, fun, always worth it years.  I've blogged and tweeted and sung the praises of this school, this community, and the work we do 'cause I know what good is being done each and every day. I do.  I see it daily. Teachers give it their all to keep the learning authentic, support staff (including district folks) work long hours trying to give us the lift when needed, and all of us continually put one foot in front of the other and keep at it.  Because in the end, we know kids are always worth it.

I will be following all the continued good of Austin and most especially Highland Park.  As we say around here, Once a Scottie, Always a Scottie.

With much love and gratitude for an incredible eight years.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
